The founders, Antonio L. Lugo, III and Freddie Torres started it through a small informal group in 2003 in Chicago. After a series of informal meetings and a focus group session, the founders realized that we had something here, but needed more guidance and structure. They created an informal board and in 2005, NHSN developed an informal coaching arrangement with Smith Bucklin, the world's largest association management and professional services firm based in Chicago. Smith Bucklin helped NSHN with its business model and value proposition.
Since its launch in late 2005, NHSN has hosted 5 events in Chicago and developed a network of over 3000 professionals with over 15 leading partner corporations and other organizations. Today, the first chapter is based in Chicago and it seeks to develop strategic network chapters in New York, Florida, and California over the next couple years.
